Crafting a 30 Day Novel: Day 29

In this Crafting a 30 Day Novel series, it’s my intention to provide insights every author must face over the course of their book. With any luck the things I detail throughout this series will help aspiring authors to complete their first project and show veteran authors alternative methods that work for others.

As we near the final day of NaNoWriMo, I wanted to discuss a few issues I’ve been having in finishing my book, issues which I’m sure others have struggled with as well.

When outlining, it’s easy to put together a barebones skeleton which gives you the general story of what to write, but when it comes time to tackle those chapters you can often feel as if the words simply won’t flow.

After struggling through the writing of this novel I was finally able to figure out my problem. My outline was too barebones.

I resolved it by creating a second overlaying outline for the individual chapters going forth. Since then my word count has sky rocketed.

Good luck and I hope you all are able to complete this event.
