Nightking

The gods were on the cusps of ending a great war, one which decimated their number. But their choices resulting in the betrayal one of their own.

Izaryle was too great a threat. Something had to be done. But so many had already fallen. Nearing extinction, the gods devised a plan to lock the fallen deity in a prison where the corrupted magics would no longer plague them.

The realm of Irayth was created for this purpose. To protect the prison on the inside, the gods selected the strongest, yet most insignificant heroes the world had to offer. These seven were taken to Irayth, along with their families where they would govern the realm in the absence of gods, awaiting the day when their combined efforts would be needed to ensure Izaryle never broke free.

But something happened none could expect. The lands, and the people who dwelled among them began to evolve. By the time Izaryle was banished, the population had grown tremendously. Elves, orcs, dwarves, and humans all called Irayth their home. But Izaryle’s coming had a unforeseen side effect. The seven keys became corrupted. And in that corruption, the Nightkings were born.
