Whether you’re a beginning author at the start of your career or a veteran of the craft, getting book reviews can be one of the hardest things we face. They’re also extremely important to your success as an author.
In this video I explain why book reviews are so important, offer some painful truths about them, and lastly, I provide a few techniques to aid you along the way. But don’t kid yourself. Even if you apply every trick in the book and do each little detail perfectly, they’re still extremely difficult to get.
You’ve done the hard part. You’ve spent months writing and editing your book. It’s finally it’s out there, available for the world to see. You tell your family and friends. You ask for shares and reviews, all the while stalking the royalty reports, hoping to see the numbers raise. Days turn to weeks, weeks become moments and you’ve heard nothing but crickets. Your book barely sells any copies. You feel like a complete failure, and worst of all, you have no idea what happened.
There’s much that could have happened, but one of things I guarantee did happen, you have little to no reviews.
